An impressive feat

I normally do not like to toot my own horn… but I have ported over 25 client websites from Jekyll to Hugo to make them faster. I ported another handful from Wordpress to Hugo. They now all have sub-second deploys and instant loading and I am very proud of that.

I have built another 50 websites in the last 3 years and connected them to my Hugo-only CMS. This means that this CMS now serves around 85 websites. Fifteen more to go to get to one hundred! Who could have thougth that four years ago, when I started using Hugo? I did not even like Hugo in the beginning!

If you are curious and want to see some example websites, then take a look some of the more recent posts of the CMS blog. I occasionally feature some ports and new builds in posts called ‘recently added websites’.

These Hugo websites do not only deploy superfast… they load instantly as well. Very few companies create this many affordable high quality websites. Most website developers build websites that are either fast, cheap and ugly or beautiful, expensive and slow. I wanted to prove that good design and good code can go hand in hand, while still being affordable.

These websites are a great deal for my clients. These clients pay a monthly fee that is less or the same as the fees of my competitors, but the excellent Google score makes sure these clients do not lose a percentage of their conversion to people leaving the website preliminary. With most clients making thousands of euro’s per month, this is a matter of serious money. Additionally, the speed improvements cause the website to rank better, adding even more value.

Finally, these websites are a great deal for me as well, as these websites are relatively cheap to host and their technology has a very small attack surface (for things like malware and other hacks). This makes it possible to keep a hundred websites running, without spending insane amounts of time or money. This translates into me being able to provide better service to my customers than many of my competitors.
